June House Project Notes Digging the Foundation for the Garage Now that the house foundation is mostly done the next step is the garage. Here the foundation is dug out. Drains on Uphill Side Uphill from the house we are adding a french drain to prevent water damage to the new foundation. Here is the east and north side drain pipe. Once the drain pipe is in, and covered with rock and a soil barrier material it is backfilled and packed down. Deck Foundation We have a deck planned for the south and east sides of the house. Here the pier footings are being set for the concrete piers for the south side deck. More details on the footings for the piers. Once the footing is in place a sonotube is put on top and the whole thing braced for backfilling the foundation. Go To Top
