First Shoots Appear

The first shoots actually appeared 8 June 2002. 4 days after planting. We have nice shoots from A1 Chinook, A2 Horizon, B1 Vanguard and B5 Sterling. These pictures were taken 9 June and the shoots are already about an inch high.

Watering Information

To help the plants establish well this first year we are currently supplementing the regular irrigation schedule by hand watering each plant once a day. Our weather has been hot, dry and very windy so the soil is drying out rapidly. We plan to mulch all the plants as soon as the shoots are about a foot high and we have pruned to the one or two shoots we will be growing.
